Humans have split into several warring factions, who make forays out of shelters to find resources by day and hide from bloodthirsty monsters by night. The world has returned to a primal state, where everyone fights only for their own lives.

The player will take on the role of survivor Aiden Codwell, who has the agility and strength that make him a valuable ally to any opposing organization. Gameplay is tied to a system of decisions that will directly affect the state of the city. The player will be able to take quests from many opposing sides, pursuing their own personal goals. Depending on which faction to help, the fate of many heroes and districts will depend only on the choice of the player.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human features an open world in which you will be able to freely move around with parkour. You can climb buildings, jump over fences and various obstacles, collecting resources, which are always in short supply. Fight the living dead in parallel, fighting them off with various weapons or trying to stay out of sight of a crowd of monsters by deftly maneuvering away from them on rooftops.

Cooperative mode includes play for up to 4 people. You can join other people in the game to see how their decisions have affected the fate of the city and transformed its appearance.
