Undying Lantern is an action-adventure game set in the fantasy universe of Zagrat. This fictional world is inhabited by the so-called Tricksters, who are extremely dangerous criminals and murderers who stop at nothing to continue committing atrocities and get away with it. What they all have in common is the fact that they are ghosts and invulnerable to ordinary humans and are able to travel to other dimensions.

In Undying Lantern specially trained fighters with magic weapons and a flashlight must fight the criminals, even allowing to overcome magical obstacles. Hunters are an elite unit that must not just kill the enemy, but first study, solve the key puzzle and learn the weaknesses of the one, because without knowledge of this factor, the boss is simply invulnerable. Each battle with the Trickster is unique in its own way and never straightforward.

As part of the walkthrough, the gamer is thrown into various locations, where he or she is first asked to solve a puzzle. After successfully completing the task, the user receives a clue, which indicates the weaknesses of the antagonist and tells their unique backstory. Based on the knowledge gained, the user is able to prepare for battle. All battles take place in real time using the mechanics of swordsmanship, blocks, evasion, and cast magic.
